TAG RUGBY + Heineken cup Comes to seachnalls
With the popularity of rugby in this country, the school decided to avail of the services of Ratoath Rugby Club which has been running since 2005.The club has been working with the Leinster Branch in providing the 'Play Rugby' programme for the surrounding schools. There are currently eight schools involved (six of which are primary schools) - Ratoath S.N.S, Ratoath J.N.S, St. Paul's N.S, Rathbeggan N.S, Gaelscoil Na Rithe and us here in St. Seachnalls. The two Secondary schools are Ratoath C.C and Dunshaughlin C.C.
Every year third and fourth classes participate in six sessions of rugby, learning the basic skills and playing matches of tag rugby. Tag rugby is a non-contact team game in which each player wears a belt that has two velcro tags attached to it, or shorts with velcro patches. In December 2011 the school welcomed the Heineken Cup as members of Ratoath RC brought the trophy, won by Leinster the previous May, around the school for pupils and staff to view.
