Spectacular Win for St. Seachnall’s NS]]>Thu, 11 Jun 2026 21:29:34 GMThttps://www.stseachnalls.ie/news-blog/cumann-na-mbunscol-final-2026Yesterday was a historic day for St. Seachnall’s National School as our senior hurling team took to the pitch for the final against Gaelscoil Na Bóinne, Trim. In a match filled with incredible skill, determination, and heart-stopping moments, our players gave it their absolute all.

​From the first whistle to the last, it was a phenomenal team performance. Every single player on the panel played their part, showing immense work rate, discipline, and true sportsmanship. When the final whistle blew, it was the St. Seachnall’s jersey that emerged victorious!

​We would also like to extend a huge thank you to O'Ríordan Construction for their continued generosity in sponsoring our sharp new away jerseys for the final. We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing, loyal support of hurling in our school.

​A massive thank you to the players for their hard work and dedication all season, to the coaches for their guidance, and to all the teachers, parents, and supporters who created an electric atmosphere on the sidelines.

​The silverware is coming back to Dunshaughlin, and we couldn't be prouder of this fantastic group of champions.

]]><![CDATA[BOYS AND GIRLS JUNIOR FINGAL FINALS 2026]]>Tue, 09 Jun 2026 23:00:00 GMThttps://www.stseachnalls.ie/news-blog/boys-and-girls-junior-fingal-finals-2026St. Seachnall's Junior Boys' had a huge win against Réalt na Mara, Skerries on Wednesday in the div. 3 final. The team, lead by their captain Cathal McGivney started strong and burst into an early lead. The St. Seachnall's defence was rock solid throughout the game and set the tone for a brilliant performance. The boys made some great moves and scored enough goals to keep their opposition at bay. The boys held strong in the second half and finished with a flurry of points to see off their opponents and raise the trophy in front of a huge St. Seachnall's crowd! Mr. MacNamara and Mr. Stafford want to thank the boys for their hard work and determination all year - well done!

​The Junior Girls produced a fantastic team performance to defeat St. Oliver Plunkett’s Malahide by 2-7 to 2-0 in the Division 2 Fingal League Final at Fingallians, Swords.

Having drawn with the same opposition earlier in the league campaign, both teams knew they were evenly matched and the opening half proved to be a tight and competitive affair. Scores were difficult to come by as both defences worked tirelessly. A crucial goal from Sofia Reilly helped the girls gain the advantage, and they went into the interval leading 1-2 to 1-0.

The team made the perfect start to the second half when Greta McTigue found the net shortly after the restart. The goal provided a major boost and helped the girls take control of the game. Their work rate, determination and teamwork were outstanding all over the pitch as they continued to add scores while remaining strong in defence.

St. Oliver Plunkett’s Malahide battled hard throughout, but the girls showed great composure and resilience to maintain their lead. Every player contributed to a superb team effort, helping secure a memorable victory.

As the final whistle sounded, celebrations erupted as the girls were crowned Division 2 Fingal League champions. Captains Sofia Reilly and Ellie Ward were presented with the league cup, ending a fantastic year for the team.

The Student council, Ms Jordan and parents from several countries came together to display projects, local dishes, famous people and other traditions from around the world were represented in our school Cultural Day. The children wore traditional dress and presented delicious dishes associated with their culture. St Seachnall’s would like to extend a thank you to all those who helped to make this a magical day for our school and we hope to make it an annual event.

Aoileann & Áine will go through to the National Final in Carlow on September 5th/6th. Well done to everyone who took part

We also wish to thank our PA and all parents who volunteered to help with refreshments. Finally, thank you to Ms. Tighe, Ms. McNerney and Ms. Traynor for preparing the children so well. The boys worked tremendously hard all game and lead for the majority of it. They showed brilliant skill and teamwork throughout but ended up being narrowly defeated by 2 points. The boys had a brilliant year, finishing second in their group and putting in some quality performances. They were hugely unlucky to not make it to a final. The St. Seachnall's coaches want to thank the boys for their time, effort and commitment all year.]]>
