Seán Goodman, Archie Walsh, Bobby Mc Grath and Shane O' Reilly represented Meath today in the first ever All-Ireland Cumann na mBunscol primary schools' sports quiz. Congratulations to our team on a very well deserved 9th place. The quiz involved 80 sports questions, including 40 GAA questions and a picture round of 10 questions. 40 teams participated in the final (32 county winners and 8 more teams - two provincial representatives from each province). Donegal won followed closely by Mayo, Offaly and Tyrone. We are very proud of our team and we wish to thank their coach Mr. Slack for all the training sessions over the last few months.
St. Seachnall's Athletics team participated in Meath Cross Country Cumann na mBunscol on Thursday 20th March. Grace Feeney won individual 3rd place for her 1500m 6th class girls race and the boys 4th class team won a silver medal for their 1200m race! All children were very happy with their achievements as it was a tough, hilly course. The children really enjoyed the day and we were so lucky with the weather. Thank you to our mentors Mr. Murphy, Ms. Mc Hale, Ms. Mc Cabe and to all parents who supported the children on the day.
Congratulations to Paddy, Cian, Lochlann and Patrick, who are Meath U9 boys Cross country winners. The boys brought the Na Fianna cup into school last Monday.
Rhys & Aoileann from 3rd class were part of the community games U11 chess team that won GOLD at the county final last weekend! Best of luck in the provincials, which will take place on 1st April.
This week we celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge & St. Patrick's Day. Thank you to our School Orchestra for performing at both junior and senior assemblies this morning. Congratulations to the winners of 'Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine'. We also wish to thank Ms. Doherty for organising a céilí for junior classes during the week. Mr. Maloney is looking forward to teaching Irish dancing to all classes over the next two weeks. There was a brilliant atmosphere in school today - well done to all the children for dressing in green. We hope you all enjoy St. Patrick's Day!
