Congratulations to all the children in Rang 6, who were confirmed today. Thank you to Father Seán Henry, Father Joseph Clavin and Bishop Deenihan for a lovely ceremony. Thank you to Mr. Slack, Mr. Stafford and Ms. Mercer for preparing the children. We also wish to thank our school choir and our teachers, Ms. Mercer, Ms. Griffin, Mr. Collins and Ms. Traynor for helping with the music. Thank you to our Parents' Association for organising goodie bags for all our children in Rang 6. We hope you all have a great day. Lena Gallagher represented St. Seachnall's NS in the Intel Mini Scientist final in TUD Blanchardstown on the 13th February. Lena researched the School Meals programme. She found that there was a gap in the research. The children, who would be eating the meals hadn't been asked for their opinion. Lena wanted to change that. When Lena surveyed our school and a Deis school in Dublin, she found that the overall rating was 3.17 out of 5. The lunches fell down in portion size, presentation and overall enjoyment. Lena presented excellently to the judges and represented St. Seachnalls with pride. We're all so proud of you Lena. Well done!
Liam Gogan, Matthew Jelic, Harry McKeag and Michael O' Rourke Smith competed in the Meath Cumann na mBunscol Quiz Final in Scoil Mhuíre, Trim on 4th February. The boys performed very well and we are very proud of them all. We wish to thank their coach, Mr. Slack for training the team over the last few months. Congratulations to Gaelscoil na Rithe, who will represent Meath in the All-Ireland Cumann na mBunscol Quiz Final.
On 5th February 2026, St. Seachnall's NS hosted a very special day to celebrate chess - Féile Fichille. We had 2 teams from 3rd class complete. We also had 2 teams from 6th class compete (Masters). Congratulations to all our children who participated on the day. Three other schools came to complete, so overall we had 112 pupils enjoy a fun-filled day of chess amongst their peers. This year, Ms. Weldon's class are participating in BLAST. BLAST aims to provide pupils in schools time and the space to work with a professional creative practitioner on imaginative and joyful projects. We are very fortunate to have Irish singer, Deirdre Shannon who has toured with a variety of Celtic music groups, such as Anúna, Celtic Thunder and Celtic Woman working with the class.
Best of luck to our sports quiz team who have qualified for the County Final of the Meath Cumann na mBunscol Sports Table Quiz in Trim next Wednesday 4th February. The team of Liam Gogan, Matthew Jelic, Harry McKeag and Michael O’Rourke Smith will represent the school after they qualified from the regional heats held in St. Seachnall’s N.S. on Friday 16th January. Thank you to M&M Productions for visiting our school once again this year. The children all really enjoyed Aladdin.
Congratulatinos to Aaron Collins, who represented our school in the Leinster Minor Championship in the National Aquatics Centre on Sunday.18th January. Aaron won a silver medal. Well done Aaron, we are all very proud of you.
All classes in our school participated in our Christmas Door Competition, which was organised by our Student Council. A sincere thank you to all families for your very generous donations of food and money to 'Feeding the Homeless in Meath'. We had a fantastic response. Our school choir and orchestra busked in the hall on 16th December and raised an incredible €2,095. McCormack Family Farms are deeply grateful for your support of this wonderful initiative. Your generosity makes such a difference to so many families across Meath. Well done to everyone involved!
