Celebrating Europe Day in St. Seachnalls with a Travel Fair organised by the Centre for European Schooling (CES).

Rang 5 attended ‘Go Racing Kids’ Club’ event in Fairyhouse on Wednesday 9th March.
 
The horse racing industry is one in which Ireland is a world leader. The aim of the day was to educate the younger generation about horse racing and show them what happens behind the scenes at the races, as well as making them feel part of their local racecourse. 
 
Among the activities on the day, the students met and spoke with a jockey and a racehorse trainer. Representatives from R.A.C.E (Racing Academy & Centre of Education) were present with their racehorse simulator and the Racecourse Manager took the students out on the track where they walked part of the track.

Grandparents' Day is a very special day in St. Seachnall's N.S. As part of Catholic Schools Week, the children reflected on the importance of their Grandparents and indeed Great-Grandparents in their lives. Over 150 Grandparents joined us for a special prayer service, a tour of our school and of course a cup of tea provided by our Parents Association. We thank you for coming and we hope to see everybody back again next year! 

​Well done to all eleven teams from St. Seachnall’s N.S. who took part in the annual Credit Union Primary Schools Table Quiz in Dunshaughlin Community Centre on Friday 29th January. All teams acquitted themselves very well. In the Under 11 section St. Seachnall’s finished in first and second place. Isaac Tuite, Daniel O’Brien, Timothy Russell and Eoin O’Sullivan, all from fourth class, were part of the team who finished as runners up. The winning team was Lucy Kelly, Pierce Dunne, Ciarán Geelon and Seán Summerville, all pupils in fifth class. This team now goes forward to the regional final in the Ardboyne Hotel in Navan on Friday 26th February at 7.30 p.m. We wish them and their mentor Mr. Slack the best of luck. Well done also to the Credit Union art winners from St. Seachnall’s. Cian Edwards, Maria Awad, Ada Ogarek and Eva Huang were all presented with their prizes before the quiz. 

Our medal presentation took place today for the victorious Seachnall's boys' team who won the Meath Cumann na mBunscol final on December 2nd 2015 in Dunganny.There is a proud tradition of Gaelic games in our school  and last month's win over Dunboyne was the school's 6th boys title and our first ever division one victory.

The medals were presented by members of the 1990 team who won the Division Two final 25 years ago. We would like to express our gratitude to the members for participating in our medal ceremony today. We also acknowledged the participation of our girls' Gaelic teams throughout the history of the school. Our very first Meath Cumann na mBunscol Division One title was won by the girls team of 2006 and a second title came in 2012. Last year (2015) our girls team qualified for the quarter finals before coming up short against St. Marys, Trim. 

Thank you to all the children, parents and staff who joined us on our traditional Christmas Green Schools Walk to school. It was a great success and enjoyed by all. Merry Christmas from all the Green Team in St. Seachnall’s N.S.

Congratulations to Hilary in Rang 5 who represented St. Seachnalls in the Intel Mini Scientist Exhibition 2015. Her project was called ‘What’s Behind the Fastest Train in the World?’

Congratulations to the boy’s senior Gaelic team from St. Seachnall’s on their historic win in the Cumann na mBunscol Division One final against Dunboyne SPS yesterday (Wednesday) in Dunganny. It was the first boys’ title in the top tier of Meath school league football and it ended a 24 year wait since a boys’ team from the school won a Meath schools final. On that occasion in 1991 St. Seachnall’s were competing in Division Two. The final score in yesterday’s decider was St. Seachnall’s 4-7 Dunboyne 3-4 and there were wild scenes of celebration as captain Cian Edwards lifted the Division One cup after the final whistle. There was a bonus for St Seachnall's when goalkeeper Jack Harrington was selected as the recipient of the Spirit of the Final award. The awards, awarded to a player from each Cumann na mBunscol final, will be presented on Wednesday 9th December by members of the sponsors GENERALI in the Newgrange Hotel, Navan from 11am.

The school would first of all like to thank the panel of 30 players for their time and enthusiasm over the past 3 months in attending training sessions after school. Secondly we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the mentors Ms. O’Sullivan, Mr. Slack and Ms. Kane who have given great commitment and dedication since September in training the boys and ensuring they were well prepared for their matches. We would also like to thank Ms. Shannon and Ms. O’Brien for their work not only with training the senior girl’s team but also helping out in preparations for the boy’s final. Finally it was great to see such a large attendance from the St. Seachnall’s community on the sidelines in Dunganny. Thank you to the parents and staff members who travelled in such big numbers!! Medals will be presented to the panel of players at a later date. For now we salute the boys from St. Seachnall’s, Meath Schools Gaelic champions for 2015.
