St. Seachnall’s first outing in the Cumann na mBunscol camogie competition ended in victory against St. Paul’s N.S. Ratoath on a scoreline of 4-1 to 0-0. This was the school’s first time to enter the Meath schools league in camogie and the fifteen girls who played were not to be overawed in their debut for the school.
The match itself was played in ideal conditions in Ratoath GAA Club. The early action was nip and tuck before a scramble near the St. Paul’s goal ended in Abbie Roche striking to the net. Another goal soon followed when a hopeful ball into the square ended with Hilary Larkin tapping in for St. Seachnall’s second goal. St. Seachnall’s were now on top and with Sinead Cooke and Isla Brennan bossing possession. they soon struck for another goal. A further point from Isla Brennan saw the half time score St. Seachnalls 3-1 St. Pauls 0-0.
Although playing against the wind in the second half the majority of the play was in the St. Paul's half. A Seachnalls goal midway through the half was to be the half’s only score but it was enough to see the school record their first ever victory in the Meath schools league.
There were great performances from all of the girls who played with great spirit and determination and they can be very proud of their their first competitive match in the St. Seachnall's colours.
The team was Jenny Reynolds (Captain), Isla Brennan, Molly O'Connor, Grace O'Connor, Abbie Roche, Ella Moyles, Tamara Imafidon, Sophia Capraro, Alannah Cudlipp, Amy Arkins, Cathy Quinn, Hillary Larkin, Grace Mulvaney, Laura Eagle-Hendrick, Sinead Cooke
