We listened to Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical interpretation of the 'Phantom of the Opera' written by Gaston Leroux (a French novelist). The phantom of the opera, Erik, was a man who had been ill-treated his entire life. He had an accident when he was younger which resulted in his face being severely damaged. He wore a mask to hide his face as people were cruel and often taunted him about the way he looked. However, he was exceptionally talented in the area of music and this led to him teaching a beautiful soprano how to sing. Unfortunately he was always ashamed of how he looked and wouldn't show Christine (the beautiful soprano) his face. Eventually she saw his face without the mask. She didn't taunt him like everyone else but instead, she accepted him for who he was.
